Gamescon 2009 – 22/08
Being to Cologne again was great!
To help out our German cosplayers, we went in cosplay.
Hanami as Kasumi of DOA, Barney as Sephiroth of FF 7 and myself as Seong Mina of Soul Calibur.
Pro:
- price of the tickets
- reduction when you were going to participate the Guiness Book of Records contest
- free, clean and big toilets
- the parking was not expensive
- OMG-drooling games! Dammit I really need a better computer! *puppyeyes*
- again the hospitality, friendliness of the Germans
- different food and eat places and they had a good location
- no long boring queues at the box office and the wristband stand
- wristbands depending on your age
- big space
- easy accessible rooms
- overview/plan hanging everywhere so you could see in which room you were
Personal pro:
- Hanami and Barney who were with me
- a few people who were fond of my cosplay!! *happy dance*
- saw a few German cosplayers back
- saw Malkie and a member of Fantasydays!
- Hanami and I sang “Take That sing star” with weird results
- beautiful game babes (yes, again proved that is are NOT only ugly girls who can game 
)
- saw 4 rooms
Con:
- we had annoying photographers when we finally were trying to eat/drink something – we needed our 5 min time people! 
- too crowdy – as expected – but 1-4h standing in line is too much when you are only there for 1 day
- not many seats, walking a whole day and sitting max 30 min is tough
Personale con:
- not many NL-BE cosplayers
- no new record (311 instead of +376)
- not many gadgets, only when you played a game you mostly received something
- would love the handwriting of that FF dude!
- Germans who did not read/ took notice of the GBofR rules
- did not saw imposing cosplayers. I thought that there would have been more incredible/awesome cosplays…
- the Zelda and Link groups… too much too many.

Fantasydays
I am going to Fantasydays.
When I was at AniMagiC I received the flyer and the information from a friendly German cosplayer.
He is a member of the organization and explained me a lot of things.
My mom and I went to the website for more information, watched the trailer and we immediately booked our hotel. Last week our entrance tickets were ordered so we do not have to stand in line at the booth office. 
I am really looking forward to those musicals and other things!
On top of that, it will be my last convention I will be attending this year.
I believe it will be a great con to end this cosplay year. ^_^

Belle and Seong Mina progress
- Belle: is finished! Except the wig but that is not urgent. I am still wondering about the yellow opera gloves… maybe redying it will help?
- Seung Mina – SC4: Amulet is finished. Bracelet + skirt are in progress. The wood has been bought. Hopefully everything will be completed on time.

Status
- Belle: is almost finished. Some minor changes had to be added
- Seong Mina – SC4: Bracelets and amulet are made. Hopefully I will be able to go to the DIY store and get some wood and other thigns so I can start repairing my Scarlet Thunder. The 2nd version skirt will be painted in the upcoming weeks and the wig will be also remade in that period.

Paris Manga 8 individual cosplay contest
I am going to participate on Saturday and luckily I am one of the first this time!
The confirmation mail was received, so Paris here I come!

AniMagiC 2009 report
Our hotel and parking place were close to the con.
I was so excited to see plenty cosplayers and to see a lot of my DE, NL, BE cosplayers again! 
Saturday I was Belle (test version) and Sunday Sailor Saturn
(test version 2 – forgot Tiara and not wearing my bootcovers!). My Belle was quite popular.
The “messer” had plenty cosplayers!
There were really unique (Ringu, Warcraft), awesome (Sun cosplay) and gorgeous costumes (TR and Rose of Versailles, RTC, …).
Sadly I didn’t get any photos of the Eternal Sonata group and the Golden Disney Princess group.
People came to me to get photos but also to talk with me.
This is something that I really like about the Germans. =)
They are friendly, open-minded and polite.
At Sunday there were less (winged) cosplayers and the weather was unstable (rain – sun).
I had the opportunity to get in the building and Carsten guided me.
Saturday evening we did some site seeing. Bonn is a really nice town!
Conclusion
- bearly Naruto cosplays (yes!)
- 1 hug sign
- lots of Zelda cosplays (getting bored…) but more Nintendo cosplays
- there were Star Wars and LOTR cosplays
- sold out expensive tickets but on the other hand it was not really needed, considering the fact that I finally had the opportunity to get inside
- lots of: Bleach, Sailor Moon, Reservoir Tsubasa Cronicles, Code Geass, Trinity Blood, HP, Avatar, Card Captor Sakura, Chobits, Kingdom hearts and Kuroshitsuji (the black butler) cosplayers
- noticed that some cosplayers were wearing the same costume as @ the Hanami convention
- definitely more interesting if you want to see lots of cosplays
- it is cheaper (no entrance + less driving) than Hanami but Hanami has more activities
Definitely a convention were you explore the German way of a convention.
They mainly stay outside in the sun and the atmosphere and their friendliness is extremely pleasant.
It is completely understandable that many cosplayers come to this con to meet a lot of their friends. Especially the more experienced ones or Dutch cosplayers. After all it is easy accessible, you got a nice shoot surrounding and you can relax in the grass while you kill your time enjoying looking at other cosplayers. Curiosity is the main key which leads sometimes to little conversations. Despite the fact that the expensive tickets were sold out, the convention seemed well organized.
